The Iron Claw

A compilation of my work on CG crowd simulations, lighting setups, and behavior integration for stadium scenes, achieved using Goleum Crowds in Maya.

Showcasing my contributions to lighting and environmental integration for CG prosthetic leg sequences, ensuring seamless blending with live-action footage.

Featuring my recreation of the classic Dallas Sportatorium, including texture work, lighting, and accurate integration into the shot.

Responsible for:

  • Utilizing Goleum Crowds in Maya to create and manage crowd simulations for up to 50 shots, ensuring seamless integration with practical elements in the stadium. Adjusted textures, behaviors, and reactions to match on-set people while adhering to the director's vision for crowd dynamics.

  • Establishing the master lighting setup for all crowd shots using V-Ray, including the creation of light selects for flash effects and ensuring accurate render layers for compositing. Trained a team of four crowd artists on workflows and best practices for crowd integration, under the guidance of the Crafty Apes Crowd TD.

  • Setting up and fine-tuning the lighting and environmental bounce lighting for CG prosthetic leg shots, collaborating with the supervisor to adjust models, textures, and lighting for realistic integration with live-action footage.

  • Reconstructing the classic Dallas Sportatorium using reference images, applying graphics created in Illustrator, and using Substance Designer for texturing. Integrated mesh lights for neon lettering, ensuring accurate proportions and seamless placement within the final shot.
